SPARK’s first race post pandemic
race resulted in 2nd and
3rd place finishes by rider David
McPherson. This race was ATLAS’s first real test, with the paddock crew working
around the clock to solve bugs and reliability issues. The result was a
motorcycle capable of beating multi-million-dollar manufacturer developed
electric motorcycles.
AHRMA and NJMP made SPARK’s busy
and stressful weekend, fun and a great environment for a first race. Two podium
finishes was an immense achievement for SPARK, and our team couldn’t have been
prouder.
SPARK’s third race took off at the
beginning of the fall semester 2022. With rider David McPherson returning, our
team had high aspirations with some modifications to ATLAS on an improved
performance. In early practice sessions, ATLAS suffered some problems, but
every test ride, David came back with a bigger and bigger smile. ATLAS had
improved its top speed by over 30 miles an hour and it was evident. ATLAS
passed all electric bikes in practices and was on pace with gas bikes.
Unfortunately, ATLAS’s motor
controller overheated in testing and resulted in SPARK having to drop out of
the race.
